On a day in June, 1,400 high school students who are the best of the best enter the United States Air force Academy as freshmen, (basic cadets). They arrive from across the United States and foreign countries to begin “In-Processing”. While friends are off relishing the last summer before college, at a beach, a summer job, the mountains, AFA Basics entering an entire summer rumored with screaming, heat, sweat, mud, no phones, intense discipline, hell to pay, long hours, grueling physical work, dirt, no sleep, endless memorization, until real classes start. They learn as a group and then as individuals to become future leaders.

Wow! This is just crazy! I mean on the one hand, the FCC is showing that they, indeed, are a force to be reckoned with by its reprimand showing that their rules are in place for a reason (albeit five years later). I would suggest, though, that five years later, programming has become progressively worse. On the other hand, the FCC must NOW continue to follow through with it’s harshness. That could be a pretty scary thing.
We’ve come a long way, baby, from the Andy Griffith Show and Happy Days to a day in age that suggests it’s a common thing to see a disclaimer stating, “intended for mature audiences”.
I mean, really… has anyone ever watched MTV for a while? Butt cheeks are the least of these… I rest my case!
